Another week, another Round-Up.
Halloween is almost here. The kids are super stoked. My son is dressing up as Yoshi, my daughter will be a Scarecrow, and I’m going out as Scoops Ahoy! Steve from Stranger Things. The wife’s going to hold down the fort and hand out candy to the boys and ghouls. It’s gonna be great. I’ve been playing Bloodborne to get into the spirit, but since Fortnite: Chapter 2 launched, we’ve been playing that quite a bit before bedtime. We haven’t been this excited about Fortnite since way back when Season 5 started. I also finally finished (after putting it off for a year) Moonlighter. If you haven’t played it, it’s an adorable dungeon crawler where you also run your own shop and sell the items you find in the dungeons. It’s on sale on the Playstation Store for Halloween, so do yourself a favor and pick it up.
Anyway’s, here’s what’s on my mind this week…
New trailer for The Mandalorian
Disney’s behemoth of a streaming service, Disney+ is almost here, and with it comes plenty of old favorites (animated classics like Spider-Man The Animated Series & Gargoyles) along with new shows like The Mandalorian. Created by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), The Mandalorian tells the story of “a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic.” The trailers haven’t given too much away, but it looks like we’ll get to see some pretty fantastic gun fights and space battles when the show premieres next month.
The Mandalorian premieres exclusively on Disney+, November 12th, 2019
Terminator: Dark Fate In Theaters This Friday
Fans have been clamoring for a proper Terminator film for years now, and it looks like director Tim Miller (Deadpool) will deliver. Essentially writing out the movies that came after T2, Terminator: Dark Fate involves Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and a hybrid cyborg human (Mackenzie Davis) who must protect a young girl (Natalie Reyes) from a newly modified liquid Terminator from the future. If the trailers are anything to go by, this one’s going to be badass.
Terminator: Dark Fate releases in theaters on November 1st, 2019
Luigi’s Mansion 3 Releases on Thursday!
At EGLX 2019 in Toronto, the family and I got to experience plenty of games and check out different vendors. My son and I stood in line for forty minutes to play a short demo for Luigi’s Mansion 3, and it was definitely worth the wait. The animation is stunning, the new mechanics involving sucking up the ghosts and slamming them onto the ground was satisfying. It’s everything you love about the first two, cranked up to 11. We’re very eager to try this next game in the franchise out (and we won’t have to wait very long either).
Luigi’s Mansion 3 releases for Nintendo Switch on October 31st, 2019
Blizzon 2019 Is Almost Here
Blizzcon 2019 kicks off this Friday. Activision/Blizzard has had one hell of a rough year so far. From the disastrous Diablo Immortal Announcement back at Blizzcon 2018, to the most recent incident involving the banning (and unbanning) of Hearthstone pro player Chung “Blitzchung” Ng Wai and his stance on the Hong Kong Protests (it’s long and complicated and if I was going to talk about it, I’d post an entirely separate blog post, but I’m not going to). I’m sure some things will be said during the convention, but I’m just excited for the games. We’re guaranteed announcements for Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. A new World of Warcraft expansion will be showcased. There are also four “coming soon” announcements that no one has any idea what they could be, just that hey’ll come after the opening ceremonies finishes. Rumors also abound that Diablo Immortal will just be releases on mobile devices at Blizzcon (which I’d be cool with). Hopefully the Hong Kong debacle won’t overshadow what everyone else is there to see, which is the games of course.
Blizzcon 2019 runs from November 1st-3rd
