MediEvil Short-Lived Demo Gameplay

When MediEvil released on the PS1 back in 1998, I became enamored with it.  The world came alive on my TV screen and felt like it had leaped straight out of the mind of Tim Burton.  The horror setting was creepy, but it had its charm.  The story was surprisingly heartwarming.  The gameplay was engrossing, with plenty of hidden secrets to discover.  Its sequel, MediEvil 2 wasn’t quite as good as the original, but it was enjoyable nonetheless and it was a franchise that I wish we had seen more of.  This October, we’ll have our chance to relive the original tale of Sir Daniel Fortesque, a “hero” in the battle against the evil sorcerer Zarok (he was actually the first to die) who has been resurrected from the dead to not only stop Zarok once again, but to redeem himself and join the Hall of Heroes.  In the meantime, we’ve got this tiny demo to tide us over and you can check out my full playthrough in the video below…

While the demo is pretty short (it only takes about 15 minutes to complete), it was more than enough time to showcase the graphical upgrades that this remaster will offer.  Literally nothing has changed gameplay wise and everything remains exactly how I remember it, right down to the puzzles and cutscenes.  It might not be a full on remake like Final Fantasy VII, but it looks to be a near perfect port and I can’t wait to 100% complete it all over again. – NVJ
