I made a post back in April for the Top 10 games I wanted for the inevitable SNES Classic. Nintendo officially announced today that it’s releasing the new console on September 29th for $79.99. We’re getting a bevy of great games, but I’m a little disappointed that Nintendo played it so safe. The list includes:
- Contra III: The Alien Wars
- Donkey Kong Country
- Earthbound
- Final Fantasy III
- F-ZERO
- Kirby Super Star
- Kirby’s Dream Course
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Mega Man X
- Secret of Mana
- Star Fox
- Star Fox 2
- Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
- Super Castlevania IV
- Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Super Mario World
- Super Metroid
- Super Punch-Out!!
- Yoshi’s Island
Now out of that list and my Top 10, I got 5/10 right. It’s a pass. Not bad. I wish we were getting Turtles in Time but whatever, I’m not the one that makes the big choices. It is cool we are getting Star Fox 2, which never saw a release here. I’m stoked to play Castlevania IV, Final Fantasy III and Secret of Mana. However, did we really need another Street Fighter? Did we need TWO Kirby games? Seems silly to me but i’m probably gonna end up getting it if I can. Hopefully stock will be reasonable, as opposed to the brutal NES Classic not being available EVER. Will you be picking it up on September 29th? If so, what games are you looking forward to playing? Let me know! – NVJ
