The Round Up – June 13th, 2017

Another week, another Round Up.

Lots of crazy things happening at E3 this year.  Xbox unveiled their new console, the Xbox One X, with a ton of games (Anthem looks phenomenal).  Sony showed off some (amazing) Spider-Man gameplay on the PS4, a closer look at the amazing looking God of War, and an early look at a remaster of their beloved game Shadow of the Colossus.  Nintendo had their conference today and announced Metroid Prime 4 & a core Pokemon game being developed specifically for the Switch.  I’m going to save some of those announcements for my future E3 post, so keep a look out for that one coming soon.

There’s lots of stuff to talk about, so let’s get to it!

WARNING: I say phenomenal a lot in this.  I apologize.

Black Panther – Teaser Trailer

We got our first look at T’Challa’s solo movie and it looks great.  Black Panther & Spider-Man were my favorite parts  of Civil War, and I honestly think their movies are going to shine.  Comic book movies are on a roll this year, let’s hope the streak continues.

Tom Holland/Spider-Man visits Childrens Hospital Los Angeles

Speaking of Spider-Man, some children got to meet the wall crawler while he was off duty from fighting crime.  It’s always great to see these big screen heroes meeting up with their fans, giving them strength, courage, and some fun.  It’s a beautiful thing.

FFXV: Episode Prompto releases later this month with updates

Not long now till we can play as our beloved goof Prompto.  His DLC seems a bit more emotional so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.  Episode Gladiolus was somewhat disappointing to me, so Prompto you better make up for it.  Also, coming this month is a new version of their car, the Regalia Type-D, which is able to go off road and jump!  We’re also getting Cup Noodles equipment, which I honestly don’t have the foggiest idea what it’ll look like.  I’m sure it’ll be ridiculous….. crap… I want Cup Noodles.

Adam West passed away at 88

Best known for his role as Batman in the 1960’s TV series, Adam West lost a short battle with leukemia on June 9th.  I can remember watching his version of Batman fondly when I was young.  When I look back on it now, the show seems silly, but that’s all part of its charm now.  You will be missed Mr. West.

God of War gets a sick new trailer – E3 2017

I loved the first God of War.  As the series went on though, I just started to hate Kratos as a character.  He’s just such a giant asshole.  With the coming release of the new God of War, Kratos has to care for his son, and teach him the ways of the warrior.  What I love about this new direction though, is his son shows compassion during the trailer.  I can only imagine this is going to lead to some very emotional moments, and turn Kratos into a little bit of a softy, which for me is very much needed.  The gameplay looks great, and the graphics look phenomenal.  I’ve got this one on my must play list.

Shadow of the Colossus Trailer – E3 2017

The Spider-Man trailer gave me some thrills, but the Shadow of the Colossus one gave me goosebumps.  We won’t be seeing it until 2018, but that’s fine by me.  It’s always been one of my favorites for it’s emotional storytelling, which is hilarious because you just fight giant Colossi for the entire thing.  It’s a testament to the power of this game, and I can’t wait to see more.

Anthem Gameplay Reveal Trailer – E3 2017

This game looks phenomenal, seriously.  A ton of people were disappointed with Mass Effect: Andromeda, but Bioware is bringing their A game to Anthem.  It’s definitely one of my most anticipated games coming out of this years E3.  I’ll be scraping up every piece of info on this as it comes.  It’s slated for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC in Fall, 2018.

That’s it for The Round Up, until next time! – NVJ
