Another week, another Round Up.
How was everyone’s weekend? My wife and I finally had the chance to go to a Cineplex VIP theater and it was awesome. We watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (it was her first time, my third.) The service was phenomenal. It’s not something I would do every week because it ain’t cheap, but it would be a nice treat every now and then. I also spent some time at my Dad’s place, going through old game stuff. I ended up coming across Champions of Norrath on PS2. If you guys remember this game, it was awesome. I wish I could say I’ve been playing it, but my brother and daughter have been going through the adventure together (they’re game hogs). She loves it, so I’m hoping to start a new game with her so I can get in some co-op time.
Anyways, let’s get to the things that are on my mind…..
Destiny 2 Livestream was insane!
It was serious information overload last Thursday with the Destiny 2 Livestream. My brother and I sat down to absorb all the footage, and we were floored. There still isn’t any matchmaking for raids, but we’re getting some awesome new abilities, a new raid, strikes and hopefully an actual story! My friends and I have done everything there is to do in Destiny, so the wait for the 2nd one is almost unbearable. At least we will have the beta to tide us over.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales out this Friday
I skipped out on the last one. The reason I’m excited for this one is Javier Bardem. He’s one of my favourite actors today. He looks like he’s going to be one hell of a villain. It’s the last film in the series (hopefully) and I really hope they go out with a bang. The undead sharks look badass too. I’m looking forward to it.
Friday the 13th game releases this week
If you’ve been itching to play as Jason, or a horny teenager, you’ll have your chance this Friday, the 26th. It looks insanely violent. The main focus point is multiplayer, with you and 6 of your friends trying to find a way to escape Crystal Lake alive without dying a brutal death by Jason’s hands. Gamers & horror fans should keep this one on their radar. I expect some hilarious gameplay to come out of this among friends.
Tom Holland reported to star as young Nathan Drake in Uncharted prequel film
This is great news. I was seriously disappointed when they had Mark Wahlberg & Robert DeNiro lined up to star in the Uncharted film. It sounded like they were going to butcher the franchise. Now that Sony has revealed they are taking a cue from the flashback sequence in Uncharted 3, I have hope for the film adaptation. Tom Holland is a fantastic actor with the proper physicality (he was the best part of Civil War). We don’t know much as of yet, but if they can build a proper film universe, with Tom hopefully carrying over into the next films, I’m on board.
Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed till next year
With game delays becoming the norm, I kind of expected this to happen. It’s bad news for the fans, but at least you know they’re going to deliver a product that delivers. Rockstar is on a streak. We had to wait for Persona 5 & Final Fantasy 15, I’m not too worried about this one. I’m excited to start a gang with my friends and roam the Wild West. Maybe they’ll let me buy a sweet condo to park my horse in, time will tell.
Roger Moore passes away at 89
He played the suave James Bond in 7 of the films. His family confirmed the news on Twitter today, stating he passed after “a short, but brave battle with cancer.” He was also known for his roles on The Saint & The Persuaders. Looks like we will be binge watching some James Bond this weekend. You will be greatly missed Sir Roger.
Daredevil released as free Hero for Marvel Heroes Omega on PS4
Marvel Heroes Omega started its Open Beta today on PS4. As a thank you to the fans, Gazillion has added Daredevil as a free playable Hero. You can download him off the Playstation Store, and pick up a free costume for him as well. I’ll be playing some Marvel Heroes Omega tonight to test out the “Man Without Fear”. It’s free to play and a ton of fun, so why not give it a go?
That’s it for The Round Up this week, until next time!
