The Round Up – May 16th, 2017

Another week, another Round Up.

Happy belated Mother’s Day!  Things were busy so I never got around to doing a post (sorry!), so I plan on including one with the Father’s Day post I’m going to do.  What’s everyone been playing lately?  I’m trying to fit in some more Persona 5 time, which is proving difficult.  I’m about 55 hours in and the story is picking up steam, so any free time I have is going to that.  I also picked up Farpoint today, so add that to the list.  I’m also 90 rep away from getting my Moogle slippers in Final Fantasy 14.  If you haven’t seen these slippers, they’re the bomb.  So many good games, so little time.

Anyways, let’s see what’s on my mind this week…..

A Hole New World launches on Steam & Xbox One this Friday!

This one’s going to bring back memories.  It’s an original title, with the wrapping of a NES game.  Xbox One & Steam players get this May 19th, but PS4 owners will have a chance to play it this summer.  It’s all I’ve been playing lately, and you will be too.  Check out our review to see why we love it so.

War for the Planet of the Apes gets a final trailer

The battle between the humans and the apes is coming to an end.  Caesar looks to have had enough with trying to mend the bonds and is exacting his own plan to avenge his kind.  This one’s going to be a must-see in July.

Alien: Covenant out this week

I thought Prometheus was cool, but this one’s taking us back to the franchises violent, terrifying roots.  The trailer gives me goosebumps on my goosebumps.  I can’t wait to check this one out on Thursday night.  I’m excited to be scared of the Alien movies again.

Farpoint released today on PSVR

PSVR finally gets something worthwhile!  I’m only 3 levels in, but this is a whole new level of immersion.  Seeing your gun with the arms and aiming down the sights is insane.  I hate spiders though, so literally everything that comes crawling at me sends me into a panic.  Once I’m through the campaign I’ll write up a review.  So far, the experience has been positive with no motion sickness.  It’s really shaping up to be a killer app for the VR.

The Gifted gets an official trailer

Fans of the X-Men have this new show to look forward to in June.  “In a world where mutated humans are treated with distrust and fear, an institute for mutants battles to achieve peaceful co-existence with humanity.”  It’s the same story that’s been told a thousand times, but hopefully it will tread some new ground.  If you haven’t seen the official trailer yet, you can check it out above.

Super Famicom gets a new game next month?  Madness.

Yes, you read that correctly.  The Super Famicom (or SNES as a lot of you know it as) is getting the title Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman Zero (say that 10 times fast) next month.  There hasn’t been a release for the system in years, so this is kinda crazy/exciting.  It’s the 20th anniversary for the franchise this year.  It’s a Japanese 2D beat em up, so I won’t be able to read anything but I may have to pick it up for the couch co-op.  It ain’t cheap though, it’s 6,998 yen (US $61.45).  This one’s for the die-hards & collectors only.

That’s it for The Round Up this week, until next time! – NVJ
